I'm really amused when I see my grandchildren these days compared to how I had been with my brothers and sisters in those days. How amazing...as I entered the KFC restaurant, I saw a little boy maybe aged three or four handling a gadget, scrolling through, browsing for his favourite game.
What I'm trying to picture out here is that, kids nowadays have many ways to enjoy and have fun. Let me tell you.....how did we do it in those days? If you're a teenager now, you might just say...."oh forget it....I have better things to do, that's boring!" But if you're as old as I am, I believe you'd sit down there and recall back your own moments when you were a kid. Right or not?
Well.....every night would just be the same...after dinner, cleaning up, doing some homework if there was any and then sitting down there playing with the seven stones...."main seremban" that's how we call it in Sarawak here. This is how you play it....gather all the stones in your palm and tumble, then catch. Whoever catch the most stones can start the game. Lay six stones on the floor, throw one up in the air and try to catch the remaining stones on the floor, and then manage to catch the falling stone. If you fail to do that....you'll have to pass the stones to other person. It was exciting, well....having nothing else to do at night, that was the greatest fun. I was champion several times and that was history.
There was something else exciting throughout the week nights. We would always wait for that
"Drama dalam Syair" on every Friday night. Well... you know.. as I remembered the thrill...it was like waiting for the "GEGAR VAGANZA CONTEST' on astro. Why not....every one is so eager to know what happened to the so-called 'Dandan Setia' after he was captured by his enemy! Oh my...with his lover waiting anxiously for him and not knowing his whereabouts. So...every body....my brothers and sisters, my parents, my aunt and uncle would sit down there looking up at the radio. Wasn't that silly....? No, it wasn't silly cause everybody's trying to blend in with the tale in the drama.
....to be continued....
