WALKING DOWN MEMORY LANE....what I did when I was a little girl...(continuation)

 22nd October, 2017 (The Diary)

Being a girl and being interested in a boy's activities are things that would make every mother get mad.  I was always scolded by my mother when I started to follow my two brothers going around the neighbourhood.  Every evening I would run out there and play with the boys and main tangkap tangkap.  Yunno, that was fun... two groups of five or six people each and the group yg menang the lat tali lat tali tam plom or locally we call it the kompeng, will run and group yg kalah akan tangkap kita org.  Masa kecik2 memang suka main permainan tu.  I don't know why I like to mix with my brothers and his friends... I guess maybe there weren't any other games yg happening or other girls didn't like to play with me because I was boyish.  When I recalled those moment, I would always remembered my mother who always potong steam di saat saat we all at the peak of excitement.  Maybe you'd like to know when the peak of that excitement was.....it was when semua org kena tangkap and then tinggal satu org yang belum tertangkap.  That one person yg belum ditangkap akan cuba menyelamat geng-geng dia yang berderet berdiri berpegangan tangan dekat tiang.  Kalau nasib menyebelahi dia, the whole geng akan berjaya melepaskan diri hanya dgn menyentuh anyone of them.  Itulah saat saat genting and selalunya saat saat itulah mak akan panggil,  "Oh Diahhh....udah main, adik kau nangis nunn."  Dalam hati...."Eeeeiiissshh, kacau betol org tua ni!!"  And then I pretended that I didn't hear her calling!  She would keep calling several times but I didn't care.  And at last as I remembered,  do you know what she did??  Mentang lah dia tu penyanyi dahulukala, punya suara nyaring...dia marah dan called out,"Oooo Diahh, udah berlari, naik atas.  Tunggu kau ahhh..... kelak mak suruh bapa kau beli p_l_r plastik untuk kau supaya kau dapat main sama-sama dgn bdk2 laki."  Lantang dan mantap weiii,my brothers dan kawan kawan semua dengar.  Aargghhh.....punyalah rasa malu yang tidak terkata di saat itu lebih lebih lagi bila my brother Adi laughed and mengejek, "Hahahahahah.....Diah pakei p_l_r plastik!!!!"  Rasa malu sekaligus marah apabila all the boys laughed at me.  Tengah seronok main and hasrat terpaksa dibatalkan...potong betol lah!!!  Walaupun begitu, namun I never serik-serik, bukan apa... the fun, the fun...you faham tak!  Hahaha..bila flashback saat itu, hei betul betul lawak gilerrr.
Bukan itu saja, kadang kadang kita org panjat pokok gajus.  Pas tu mak akan suruh jawap teka teki.  Buah apa biji kat luar?  Semua ternganga, makan jerrr, walhal jawapan ada depan mata, tapi tak reti yg bertenggek kat atas buah gajus tu adalah bijik dia.  Dalam family, I'm the eldest girl and my two elder brothers are Ali and adi.  We never called them abang for we were not taught that way, so we juz called them by their names.  Ali, the eldest used to be very helpful with the housework and he was a kind person.  I liked him when he helped with the sweeping, cleaning, cooking and even did the laundry.  He's gone now leaving his wife and eight children.  Semuga Allah cucuri rahmat dan mempermudahkan segala gala baginya di sana, Aminnn.  My second brother, adi, was really a nuisance and he still is now as a grandpa at the age of 57!  As I remembered, when we were kids, he would always come up with something yang tak diduga.  One day, he suddenly appeared and called out to us aloud, "Hoiii, sapa mok pegi Singapore?"  Yunno, when I recalled those moments, I kinda laugh coz the only faraway and big city that we know as kids was Spore.  And when we talked about going out of Miri, it was always to Spore, not Kuala Lumpur coz to us kids KL was much much smaller.  Then we would sit down and talked about what there was in Spore.  Macam tau sangatlah, tau tau loyar buruk cerita mengada yang banyak tu, especially my two brothers, hahaha!!! Lucu sangat sangat, I would laugh about that when kita org masuk angin keluar asap dengar cerita abg2 tu.  Mungkin masa tu, kita selalu dengar org tua2 cerita pasal Spore, so asyik sebut Spore lah.  Narrow minded betul lah we all masa kecik2 dulu and bila we had a fight, one among us would say, "Kau tunggu ahhh, kelak aku pegi Spore baru kau tahu!"
Back to kisah my bro adi, when he shouted sapa nak go spore, all of us termasuk sisters and bros yang kecik kecik lompat lompat and angkat tangan and said, "Kamek maok!!!"  Then he would say, boleh pegi tapi ikut giliran.  So, the first two yang terpilih tu rasa sangat bertuah.  Disuruh berdiri kat depan berbaris and tutup mata, bila dia instruct buka mata, baru boleh bukak.  Beriya-iya betol nak pi
spore lah katakan.  Actually, masa tu, ada benda yang adi pegang dalam tangan dia, tapi sorang pun tak tahu apa ke bende nyerr tu.  Pas, tu dia tanya lagi, "Ok, ajis, rebi, ko orang memang betul nak pegi spore lah?  Yang dua orang ni ngangguk jerr.., "Ok, bukak mata...."  Once dah bukak mata, yunno what he did, dlm tangan dia ada kulit limau, he picit kulit limau dekat mata adek berdua tu.  Kesian adek2 tu, bising meraung pedih and nangis.  Tapi dia tak kisah pun sebaliknya,"Apa yang nampak di spore tadi? Hahahah.....", tergelak terbahak-bahak tapi akhirnya terpaksa angkat kaki bila mak kejar dia dengan rotan.  What a kacang hantu!
None of us adek2 dia yang terlepas dari kena tipu muslihat termasuk I myself.  My case was even worse.  Yunno, one day, he called me in a rush and asked me to follow him.  Ibarat kancil yang terlupa jerat, I followed him and asked what had happened.  He said that he'd found something on a piece of wood at the verandah but he couldn't take it.  I kept asking what it was but he wouldn't tell me and persuaded me to touch it.  He said if I could touch and take it, so I could keep it and it would be mine!  So, what do you think, didn't it sound like that something was precious and i was eager to know what it was.  Then, without thinking much, I did what I was told to do, anxious to know the thing underneath that piece of wood.  I touched and searched with my fingers and to my dismay, I felt something slimy and it sticked to my fingers.  When I looked at it, I then realized that he had asked me to pegang hingus dia!!!!  Kuranghajar betul that bro of mine!!  Again I was deceived and in anger I ran after him.  He ran away while pecah perut tergelak and when I failed to get him, I ended up crying sebab sakit hati.  Terok betul lah dia tu!  Now, when I recalled back the moment and told my children about this, they would laugh about his naughtiness.  More tales to write but sleepy now...
will continue next time..."Tangani stress anda dengan bijak, hadapi dugaan dengan tabah (chehhh)
Rest and have a good night's sleep and for yr infor...aiyaciksitiwassomuchfun...thanks.

SOAKED!!

Saturday @3.00pm

Grabbing my books and backpack, I hurried to my bike.  When I was outside the house, I looked up yonder, the sky was dark, not grey, it was darker than grey.  I didn't want to think that it would rain heavily, not just yet.  Not to worry, I had my purple jacket on and I thought it would shelter me from the drizzle.  As I started off from the house, it still seemed alright, until I reached the highways.  Tiny raindrops smeared my face and as I went along, the drizzling was suddenly turned on to a showering mode!  Arrgghh!!!  I was taking a shower while riding my bike!  And you can imagine how it'd been.  I could feel the cold water running down my spine, wetting my undergarments and that was sickening.  I told myself that I mustn't stop at the five-foot-way for shelter because the centre was just round the corner and if I were to do that I would be late for class.
It was very cold and the urge to reach the centre was too intense.  That sudden downpour with strong winds reminded me to be more careful.  Luckily, drivers and other road users were considerate and that had facilitated me on the road.  I was most careful, avoiding cars and tried to speed up.  "It's too cold, too cold! (shivering..... gug, gug, gug, gug, gug, gug.)"  Slowing down  and turning round a corner and straight to the parking lot, turned off my bike, ran to the five-foot-way and up the stairways.  Water was dripping off me and..."Oh nooo, I'm done here!"  Do you know why?  The purple colour from my jacket had run down and stained my white pants.  My poor white pants!!  I hurried to my classroom, took off my soaked jacket and spread it on a table at the back of the classroom, letting the water to drip off it.  I was drenched!  Walking in my wet socks and shoes with my pants partly purpled by the jacket, colleagues called out and offered towels. and tissue paper to dry and clean up.
I couldn't change clothes as there were no extras.  So, just imagine, I was there in a two hour session classroom and feeling like sitting in a bath tub filled with water.  Why not? Coz I was wet inside out.  While in the classroom, the purple jacket that I had put on the table had its water dripping on the floor creating a puddle of purple rain.  My students laughed at it and I had to call the cleaner
to mop the floor.  Anyway, I hoped that I didn't have to catch cold.  My class ended at 5.15pm and when I reached home,  I quickly bathed and got ready to see my daughter at the hospital - another night!
